The main topics of the Summer School will be the recent research findings in psychology and current trends in the applicability of psychological knowledge in legal practices. The classes will mainly focus on eyewitness testimony discussing the estimator and system variables, beliefs about eyewitness testimonies, the use of confession evidence, the applicability of expert evidence from psychologists in courts, legal perspectives of psychological profiling, false and recovered memories, false confessions and wrongful convictions. (The detailed descriptions of the main topics of the Summer School could be found in the section "Courses"). The CLP course will consist of eight lectures/workshops covering the main topics of CLP, quest lectures and final exam in the form of test or essay question. Despite the heavy course schedule, students will also have a chance to share experiences in less formal environment. Classroom lectures will take place from Thursday to Tuesday in mornings and early afternoons. In addition, workshops will enable students to discuss the topics presented during the lectures, thus providing a considerable contribution to the process of learning. Reading materials for each of the lectures will be distributed upon students' arrival enabling them to prepare for workshops and gain additional information on the topics addressed during the lectures. In addition to the courses, students will listen and discuss issues related to crime, law and psychology with guest speakers, academics and practitioners from the Czech Republic and abroad. As a part of the program, students will also have an opportunity to observe the program of social intervention during site visit to day center and shelter for children and youth in Prague. |
